Happy Pioneer Day!

This is my first Pioneer Day in Utah! Wow, it's a big holiday here! I guess it should be, however, it's new to me coming from Washington where not much is done for this holiday but a ward party. We decided to go to the SLC parade this year. My in-laws have never gone and heard it was one of the biggest and oldest parades in the United States. They were not kidding. We arrived a little late and got back seats. People are serious about this parade. They bring canopies and coolers full of food. At the two hour mark in the sweltering heat we decided we had enough. The parade, at that point, was still going strong. Only a member of the church would truly understand the parade. Stakes made floats, missionaries marched, a float with Brigham Young and the temples, even President Henry B. Eyring drove by....The only thing missing was church music being played by the marching bands. Now wouldn't that have been great.
